With the change that Madden incorporated into the game regarding audibles: In looking back on game film of my first game, neither me nor my opponent was able to consistently abide by the rule. I would be interested to hear from others who have encountered this online in your games. With the slow-down animation of the QB when he audibles, plus giving the defense time to reset if desirable, eats away precious seconds. I'm not sure this would be the case 3 weeks from now but at least 5 seconds plus are used with an audible. And AT THIS STAGE, forget doing an audible with anything less than the 40 second clock. This is even more important than ever since the defense is better equipped, so to speak. We have a rule on the 40 second clock. I'm not sure it is viable anymore. Look at it and let us hear from you.

I don't know why but I kept running low on time when picking my defensive plays.

I think once people get adjusted and start to get comfortable with their playbooks it won't take as long...
Maybe just a guideline to try not to take to much time...
Every once in awhile is okay... but every play might be an issue in some games...

so are we saying the offense can't audible under 10 seconds because the D won't have time to set?

Try to get the play in motion in 30 seconds. In other words, don't let the clock rundown under 10 seconds CONSISTENTLY. There are times when you are looking for a special play on defense or offense that that may happen. The key word is "consistently." See the rule on when you can "run the clock out."

Late input, but I agree with PTR.

instead of changing the rule try this to see if it works as it does for me and i audible alot. know what your going to call and after you call your play, hurry to the line (x button). that way it gives you about 3-5 seconds added on to your time. if you have ever noticed, the offense takes forever after the huddle break to make their way to the line of scrimmage.
