Spreading the line helps cover more area against the run. If you spread the line and crash in, that stops run up the gut and also off the tackles. Running in this game in general is hard if you play someone who halfway knows what they're doing. Way I see it, if I make you one-dimensional and frustrate you enough to make you take offsides penalties until the game kicks you out, then I've done my job, right Broncos? Just because you can't figure out how to beat something right away doesn't make it cheap. It is beatable, but it's difficult. Some games, you just can't run. Some games you can. Just the way it works, and you have to deal with it. The way I see it, if splitting the line truely made running the ball a lot harder for teams, you'd see it every Sunday, right? But you don't..cause even if the defensive line crashes in, it leaves them vulnerable, especially against good formations to run from like I Formation Big. With that being said, it's sad that in this game, people can split their line and stop a run play before it starts 19 out of 20 times. Maybe ill break that one 56 yard TD the 20th time but what happened to the 5 or 6 yard runs that actually happen in real football? No one holds blocks in this game, you go to the outside and a LB or CB will put you in your place, you run up the gut a DT or LB will get you. As for going offsides, its hard to stop when your analog stick is sticking from being smashed against a wooden chest

I can attest to that... I had to replace 4 of them last season. ive had to replace one, im on pace to need another one, I bet Sony knows these games get us frustrated, they pay EA off to make their game have annoying flaws in it, and crank up the controller price. It's all a big scam!

That's actually a pretty good scam...
And they also make the controllers out of really cheap highly breakable plastic...
Heck... If smashing a controller 10 or 11 times against a wooden table makes it break then what good are they?

I have myself pulled off the hole in one in controller breaking when in one highly skilled slam I broke my controller while playing Cutthroat... Ironically I cam back and won the game... ;D reminds me of this one time I put a hole in my door, the guy was using the redskins, this was back in madden 2004, I was the Giants, and apparently there's a huge difference between 98 speed and 99 speed cause Will Allen was always 5 steps behind L. Coles. I got so pissed I was screaming, then I kicked the door, and go figure I came back to tie it 30-30 and the guy decides to throw a hail mary with 1 second left, well Cornelieus Griffin sacks Ramsey and he fumbles on like the 5(this guy loved to drop back an insane amount of yards) and Strahan picks it up and runs it in for 6 to win the game as time expires..lol, the hole is covered up by a big picture of tiki barber, no ones noticed it to this day ;D
