A lot of people call the unreal sucess of the corner route and the stutterstep new flaws and/or glitches in the game. Well, think again. I've been meaning to see if corner routes and the studdastep were in madden 2004 and worked as great as they did in this years game, and the results were shocking.
I ran "Hitch Corners" out of the run n' gun playbook with the cowboys and also ran a PA pass out of twins that had Jason Witten running a corner and man, it's nearly just as sucessful unless the defense is in cover 3. The only difference I noticed is that the CB came up with one of those whacky interceptions where he's not looking and he just sticks his hands up and has an INT. Man I miss those haha.
As for the studdastep, not only is it in madden 2004, but the computer uses it. I was the cowboys, i made the CPU the Giants. Tiki Barber did the studdastep and Roy Williams looked like he had rocks in his shoes. It's harder to do in 2004 because the L1 and R1 buttons dont seem to be as pressure sensitive, but it's doable alright.
So my conclusion is that a lot of the "new" flaws and glitches, arent really new, but that they were discovered this year. Last year lobbing the ball to a WR doing a fly route was so easy, no one had time to notice how affective corner routes were. And why studdastep when you could just take a team like the phins' or jaguars, send Taylor or Williams into a pile of defenders, keep hitting the juke and spin buttons like there's no tommorrow, and next thing you know break a 90 yard TD?
