Yes, Petrags, I still have that PM from 9/22/04. ;D
Reading all the posts again and conversing with some of you through PMs, most all have the problem when the line is spread and the DEs are then playmakered to do what Dawgs calls the DEs doing the "loop-ti-doo." I've never used that combination before in a game or practice but after testing it I can very well see that it has been used against me, or something very similiar. ;D
I see where it could be used in situational scenarios but IMO the down and yards would dictate its use, and that probably would be not more than 20% of the time. What I believe is happening is one player starts to use it when they get behind (and there are some that might use it 90% of the time ) and then the other player gets frustrated and then he starts using it (that is if he actaully knows how to do it, like me...till today) against the guy using it against him. You know where I'm going with this, right? You guys know I am still a rookie at Madden after 2 1/2 seasons but I think I'm a pretty good judge of people. So, right now, personally, I think that it would serve all judicially, until we can get a rule in place, is that if you spread the line, that you NOT use the L1+stick creating the Dawgs loop-ti-doo. (Hope I got that right.)
I can't see that the answer right now would be to curtail the use of any of the other combinations at this time unless a certain one creates another firestorm.
There is some very good dialogue here from both sides and I think all have the best interest of the league at heart.
Even though there has not been anything placed before the rules committee regarding my thoughts, there is work being done on it as we speak, so obviously this is solely my opinion and I am not in any way speaking for any of the other members of the committee. I just felt that since this is a hot topic, the whole blitzing subject, that to keep further incidents from occurring because of this problem that we should err of the side of caution when using the above "loop-ti-doo," or any variation thereof until the rule is finalized.
Dialogue this is presented here, as long as it is civilized as this has been, is always helpful when it comes to finalizing rules for the league. 32 heads are better than a few so please continue to give us your input.
Thanks.
