PTR, I would really like to know what play that was and if you ran it against me. Every game I have had with you has been clean, at least in my eyes. I guess it does all depend on who you play and what their expectations are. ;D Yes, I ran it against you but you stopped it after a minimal gain. But I will show you Saturday morning.

great feedback fellas...also would like to hear some thoughts on crowding the box..another topic we are looking at. Crowding the box hasn't been a problem yet for me in this league. Well, except my first game, but that was to be expected. ;D Is it something that is being abused? If people crowd the box then it should be based on the play you called and without anyone using the playmaker. I think that is where the problem lies. We have guy's crowd the box then they playmaker certain positions which then causes too much pressure. But, I don't mind it being done once in a while, that's realistic, but not all the time or even half the time. Sometimes we think "they do it on Sunday's", but they also don't jump 5ft in the air to INT or knockdown balls on a consistent basis and have super human acceleration(and this is on offense too).

great feedback fellas...also would like to hear some thoughts on crowding the box..another topic we are looking at. Personally to date, I haven`t played anyone who abuses this tactic. I`ve seen it in certain situations but nothing that I feel is out of hand. Now my feeling towards the matter is similar to DAWGS in the fact that if members use the "crowd the box" tactic with playmakering a defense to create an excessive amount pressure on a constant basis, then it is an unfair advantage. Just like using ther B-N-R, spread the line, blitz tactic. The trouble with all these plays is that when a member uses them, it becomes a subjective situation. How often is too often? I`ve heard some members state that there should be a rule or guideline stating you can only use this play a certain percentage of the game. Well, I think that creates a problem keeping track of your opponents play calling. And reverts back to a "he said" / "she said" situation. Making a black and white rule either condoning or disallowing the tactics may not be the answer either. It handcuffs members to a degree and making a million rules clouds the gameplay. Not to mention, takes the fun out of the game. My suggestion to taking control of the matter puts it in the hands of the league members themselves. All to often, and I am a victim of this habit as well, members only complain or have issues when they lose. I have found that as long as someone is victorious, they have no need to address anything that may be questionable as far as gameplay of their opponent. The goal of attaining the "W" has been reached. If members were a little more pro-active about their games maybe some of the problems would disappear. All members have to do is inform the commishes or rules committee about their opponents, good or bad. A log can be made on each member over a short period of time. That way league officials can track a members tendencies and if a pattern developes where his play is questionable, they are better suited to react to the situation. But again, this only works if a majority of the members participate. Perhaps the league is already doing this and I am out of place.

Good post Glad and yeah it's getting other members to participate. You haven't been around long, but you bring opinions to the table. We have members since day one that never speak on here. We need more input from other senior members. I would say that we need to have the rules black and white. No grey area. If someone is violating a rule then maybe at halftime bring it to thier attention and document it. Then notify commish or PTR that "so and so did this and when told about it they stopped or kept doing it." The commishes then can keep a record and if after a few complaints depending of the severity they will discuss the appropriate discipline with the violater. The great thing is that this league will not have trouble getting other members. So if someone is pushing the limit then cya.

No offense to whomever is labbing this defensive spead topic, and finding ways to beat it but try to lab it with a poor offense squad such as the Texans, BENGALS, or Raiders against a high powered defense that has good LB`s for blitzing. I have not been too successful but am willing to hear what results others have had. ;D HEY! I take offense to that! But yea, here's my take: On defense: Limit bump and run to once every set of downs. Limit looping to once every set of downs. Limit 8 in the box to once every set of downs or in 1 yard or less situations. Limit line/LB shifts to once every set of downs (to avoid nano-type blitzes) You can do these things in combination, ie bump and run with line shifts, but that counts as your one time for both... On offense: Complete only ONE pass to a specific route per 2 sets of downs. (i.e., ONE corner route) Motion a WR only ONCE per set of downs. There are things being abused on BOTH sides of the ball... so if we're going to limit stuff, limit it fairly.

hmmmm, interesting ideas Jpar. Reminding self...forum decorum Hey, I'll be the first to admit that I use ALL the tactics in question. I'm not ashamed of it, because it's within the rules. As any competitor, I like to win, within the rules. I won't, like some others, call for a change and pretend I don't do the same crap. Everyone I've played has used the tactics in question more than they haven't. Some have abused it. I want rules in place so there is NO room for discussion. I can't stand complaints about things that aren't clearly defined in the rules, and I can't stand not having a rule clearly defined for an obvious abuse of gameplay.

Good point Jpar and that sometimes is when the problems begin. People go to the max when they should know that this league is for sim style and str8 play. I am not gonna BNR every play. I am not gonna D-line sweep everydown. I like and really enjoy playing the way the game is supposed to be played, not finding a way to cheat others and the AI.

maybe I havent encountered the average DT's beating great OT's quite yet, but I still believe the point of this league is to be realistic right? Well when the defense calls this kind of pass rush it leaves the middle vulnerable to the run for one, and secondly if they know youre going to pass and you expect this you should pick a play where the TE or RB atleast chip blocks or runs a delayed route in other words. Stepping up in the pocket does not always work in the nfl either, it then becomes the tackle AND/OR free guards duty to keep the DE back from the QB that is stepping up. But you all do make valid points, and this should not be abused, but it should not be outlawed or even heavily limited either in my opinion..

wow, i need to go practice. you guys are serious ballers.
i'm in over my head. i'm gonna volunteer my ignorance here and ask how in the world can we tell if teams are doing this? i mean, aren't there plays that are designed for the ends to blitz around the O-Line?
how will i know if teams are doing this to me, especially when they do it so fast?

Basically it`s simple. Once I see someone split their line and I say "hut", if all linemen take a route to the outside you`ve been "looped-d-looed". The pressure comes from the outside of the pocket. If you are a player that takes deep drop backs, you`re done. Now some players are doing this, calling blitzs, and using B-N-R. Making it impossible for the offense to move the ball. Hit me up on AIM tonight. We can make go of it on headsets and I`ll show you.
