If there are people in the league that are abusing this and they are the reason the rule is in place than maybe after the season, the commish, the co-commish, and the rules committee can take a look at who has the most complaints and maybe move in another direction. If it is better for the league than why not? I admit this is great place to make friends but not everybody plays a straight game. Maybe it is time to get rid of the unsavory players and make season IV by invitation only. Just an idea. That sounds like a pretty good idea.

As PTR said in his resignation, the league has to move forward. And I certainly stand behind it! But if the league cannot move forward regardless of my resignation, where doesth thou leave you and I or anyone else. You do things for the good of all. If what I did betters things for all of us, then it shall be. If it doesn't, then what I did is wasted. I see nothing to instill such sentiments in myself as yet but I have faith in the Commish! BTW, Skinny, good points also.

PTR, I wish you wouldn't resign as commish. No offense to Shanks or anything, but I think you do a helluva job (as does Shanks) and you're always there when me (or anyone else) needs anything. I wish a few bad apples and experiences didn't have to make you quit.

same here PTR, your a corner stone for this league. when i think of SAPML your one of the first names that pop in my head.
Skinner Im working on getting those teams filled, trying very hard. just hard to find people that want to jion a nother league and that will fit in. And your statement isnt gay, lots of us call SAPML home and put a lot of time and effort to see this league grow and want to continue to see this league grow.
Unfortunally noone has answers to solve this problem, it will never satisfy everyone in the league or half of the league. these are just growing pains with madden, and i guess we shouldnt expect anything else when madden 06 comes out, if not the corner problem it might be the crossing route. with that said there will be always problems with madden, people will find the loop holes. But the more i think about it corner routes can be classified into a running play as stated before. it just boiles down to respect. I hope we all have it, and if not all majority.

Thanks, Tony. You are right in that these are just growing pains for the league. Bumps in the road. Let no one tell anyone else that this league is dead or about to die. There are too many here that have given too much to see that happening. I, personally don't see that happening, even though some members have expressed that they might want to leave if certain decisions are made. I really don't believe them. I don't believe they are going to give up what they have been fighting for for three seasons and just say "piss on it" when we hit a bump. And that is what this is, a bump! Don't believe it is anything other than that. We will work through it and come out better. If you believe in it, it is worth fighting for.

I know that the only time anyone has ever complained about corner routes has been when I completed them AND won the game.
So is it a problem with the rule? Or a problem with sportsmanship?

Commish.........I just want to say that I think the ruling (League Daddy email to all members ) you made on the corner route usage is about as judicial as could be to ALL concerned at this time.
The Commish: "From this point until at least the end of the season we will put a limit of 10 corner attempts per game. That gives plenty of leeway for those who dont abuse it not to worry about it. That also takes into account corners being used at the end of the 2nd and 4th quarters to stop the clock by going out of bounds, and corners thrown to TE's or RB's out of the backfield. If your opponent runs more than 10, let me know and i will review the complaint and take action. For those who arent sure, the definition of the Corner, although subjective based on who you ask, is as follows...any receiver, usually your slot WR that starts off running a streak then at some point in the route will take a 45 degree angle to the sideline."
I'm sure your decision was not an easy one.

WOW were people really using it more than 10 times? Dazed.

i would hope not dazed, but it is so sensitive a subject i get complaints when it is run 3 to 5 times in one game. You wouldnt believe the number of emails i have had on the subject. Even though the rule says no more than 10, there should be no reason anyone gets that close. If people are mixing up their plays this is a mute point. When people cant follow the guidelines, we have to put rules into place that we can enforce. I personally think this is a fair number...we will see how it works out.

Here's my OPINION about the new rule...
Question: The majority (12 people) voted that using the corner route more than 5 times in a game is cheesey over the minority (3 votes). So how come the rule is set at 10? This is not adding up, and it doesn't make much sense to me.
I think people will use the corner route MORE now that they know exactly how many times they can and can't throw the route ... Think about it!
Also, Shanks, you say that if someone even gets close to 10 corner routes in one game, that that is not really sim. Seems like we have an "iffy" rule then, because you are the one that ultimately chose to set it at 10, but now if someone gets close to 10, that isn't realistic either?
This rule is no good...

Well its a video game...all i can do now is set the rules and enforce them. Hopefully we wont see people maxing out the 10 corners a game...if you do, i think that says alot about a persons character and gameplay. I had to consider more than just overusing the corner...i had to take into account our str8 players who abide by the rules 100% but are still sending me emails that every time they play a game they feel they are tippy toeing around having to concentrate on every play they run so they dont appear cheesy to their opponent. You see, if someone runs 3 corners in an entire game...all 3 go for TDs or a big gain, then thats all teh opponent will remember. I dont think i need to be concerned with that when im running my O. Im confident that i will mix it up, most likely have a couple of corners throughout the game, and win or loose will have played a str8 enjoyable game. This is a game....to be enjoyed. You shouldnt feel like your getting graded by your teacher or getting an evaluation by your boss based on your performance.
